New Launch: Xiaomi’s Power Bank 10000mAh 55W Now Has a Cable You Can’t Lose
Share
Think about the last time a power bank let you down. Chances are the battery was fine. The cable wasn’t there: left on a desk, frayed at the neck, or buried at the bottom of a bag when your phone dropped to 3%.
Xiaomi has decided that problem is worth fixing in hardware. On October 10, 2026, it listed the NPB1055R on its You pin platform in China at 299 yuan (about $45). It is a 10,000mAh power bank with a 70cm retractable USB-C cable built in, 55W fast charging and a colour display that stays hidden until you need it. For now it is on sale in China only, but the ideas inside it matter well beyond China. Here is what it does, what is still unconfirmed, and what it could mean for India.
What is the Xiaomi NPB1055R power bank?
The NPB1055R is a rounded 10,000mAh power bank with a 38.32Wh lithium-ion battery. It measures 90 x 50 x 41mm and weighs 260g, so it is closer to a small brick than a slim card. The headline feature is the 70cm USB-C cable that lives inside the top of the body. Alongside it you get a second USB-C port on the bottom and a standard USB-A port. It comes in Deep Titanium, Titanium Gold and Iris Purple.
How does the retractable USB-C cable work?
You pull the cable out to the length you need, up to 70cm, and pull it again to send it back inside. Nothing to coil, nothing to tie, and no cable to forget at home. One caution: the report does not mention a durability rating for the retraction mechanism. Moving parts can wear out, so wait for hands-on reviews before treating it as a sure thing.
How fast does the Xiaomi 55W power bank charge phones?
Both USB-C outputs, the built-in cable and the bottom port, support up to 55W and work with common protocols such as PPS and AVS. The USB-A port tops out at 22.5W. According to Xiaomi, 30 minutes at 55W takes a Xiaomi 17 Pro to 67%, an iPhone 17 Pro to 64% and an 11-inch iPad Air M3 to 33%. On capacity, Xiaomi says the 10,000mAh cell gives roughly one full charge for the Xiaomi 17 Pro and about 1.3 charges for the iPhone 17 Pro. These are the brand’s own figures, so treat them as best-case numbers. Real results depend on the phone, the cable and the temperature.
How many devices can it charge at once?
It can charge three devices together: one through the built-in cable, one through the bottom USB-C port and one through USB-A. The catch is the usual one for this class of power bank. When several ports are in use, the total output drops to 15W. For a fast top-up, use one port. For an overnight refill of a phone, earbuds and a watch, use all three.
What does the hidden screen on this power bank show?
Under the front panel sits a colour digital display. It shows the exact battery percentage remaining, the live charging wattage, the operating temperature and the overall battery health, including cycle count. Most power banks give you four LED dots and a guess, so this is a real step up in information. Seeing the live wattage also tells you whether your cable and phone are really fast charging.
How fast does the power bank recharge itself?
Either USB-C connection accepts up to 45W of input. That is quick for a 10,000mAh power bank, but only if you feed it properly. A weak 10W brick will waste the hardware. To get near 45W, you need a capable fast charging adapter, ideally a compact GaN charger, plus a matching cable. The slowest piece sets the speed.
Is the Xiaomi NPB1055R power bank safe?
Xiaomi says the device meets China’s GB 47372-2026 standard. According to the company, the cells passed nail penetration and 14kN compression tests, plus an hour of exposure to 135°C heat. The power bank also includes the standard protections against overvoltage, short circuits and overheating. These are Xiaomi’s claims, not independent lab results, and a Chinese standard is not an Indian certification.
Will the Xiaomi 55W power bank launch in India, and at what price?
There is no confirmation. The report states that Xiaomi has not announced any international release, and the 299 yuan price (about $45) applies to China only. No India price or date has been announced, so any number you see for India is a guess. Any Indian launch would also need to clear local certification first, which takes time. The honest answer today is: watch this space, but don’t wait for it.
What does this launch mean for India’s mobile accessories industry?
Nothing below is announced. This is our analysis of where the category is heading, based on a launch that has happened elsewhere.
Built-in cables will move from novelty to expectation. Many Indian users lose, bend and fray cables regularly, and the cable is one of the most frequently replaced accessories. When a major brand puts the cable inside the power bank, shoppers start asking why their own power bank doesn’t have one. Expect Indian brands to respond with integrated-cable models across the mid-range, because the idea is easy to understand and easy to demonstrate in a 15-second reel.
55W will quietly become the new baseline. Phones and tablets are charging faster every year, which makes 20W power banks feel dated. A 55W power bank also raises the bar for everything around it. Cheap, thin cables become the weak link, and fast charging cables rated for higher wattage become more important to buyers who want their expensive hardware to perform.
Spec sheets will matter less than usability. A battery-health screen, a cable that stays attached and a clear wattage readout are all usability wins, not raw-power wins. India’s accessory market has been built largely on capacity and price comparisons. Features that solve daily annoyances give brands a new way to compete that does not depend on a price war.
Travel friendly gadgets will consolidate. One device that replaces a power bank, a cable and a battery indicator is exactly the kind of product that wins a spot in a small bag.
Does a 55W power bank need better fast charging cables and adapters?
Yes. A 55W power bank is only fast if the cable and the charger around it can keep up. For USB-C, look for a cable rated at 60W or higher for everyday use, and for cables above 60W, an e-marker chip is typically required. On the adapter side, a 45W or higher GaN fast charging adapter will refill a power bank like this much faster than a basic 10W brick. If the power bank is the engine, the cable is the fuel line. Underspecify it and you will never see the headline speed.
What else belongs in a travel friendly gadgets kit?
A power bank alone does not make a travel kit. A sensible setup has four pieces. A 10,000mAh power bank covers a day away from sockets, and at 38.32Wh this one sits well under the 100Wh limit that airlines commonly apply, though you should always check your own airline’s rules and keep power banks in your cabin bag. A fast charging adapter refills everything at the hotel or the airport gate. A spare fast charging cable covers the day a cable fails. And a USB OTG hub, the item people forget, turns a Type C phone into a working tool for pendrives, card readers and wired accessories without needing a laptop. GrunX stocks the full set of power banks, fast charging cables, fast charging adapters, USB OTG hubs and other mobile accessories in one place, so the kit can be built around what you carry rather than around one brand.
Should you wait for the Xiaomi NPB1055R or buy a power bank now?
If you need a power bank this month, buy one now. The NPB1055R has no India date or price, and a good power bank today beats a perfect one that may never arrive. Use the launch as a checklist instead: 45W or higher output, a battery readout and a cable you will not lose.
The bottom line
The Xiaomi NPB1055R is not a revolution. It is a thoughtful fix for the most annoying part of carrying a power bank, and that is exactly why it matters. If it reaches India, it will push the whole category toward smarter, tidier designs. Until it does, the lesson is already useful: choose the power bank, the cable and the adapter as one set, not three separate purchases.
