Foldable Phone Batteries in 2026: Who’s Really Ahead?
Share
Picture a normal busy day. You check maps, jump on a video call, reply to a few chats and watch a short video in between. By 4 pm, your phone is already asking for a charger.
Now give that phone two screens. That is everyday life with a foldable, and it is why battery matters more here than on any regular phone.
2026 is the first year foldable batteries are really worth talking about. Samsung finally moved past 4,400 mAh. Google chose a different path. Apple joined the category with the iPhone Duo and did not tell anyone how big its battery is. We ran a foldable phone battery comparison across six foldables, using published figures as of 27 October 2026. Where a brand has not shared a number, we say so.

Samsung finally woke up
For years, the Galaxy Z Fold carried the same 4,400 mAh battery. Other brands kept adding capacity, and Samsung fans could not help noticing.
The Fold8 is the answer. It has a 4,800 mAh battery, and the Fold8 Ultra goes up to 5,000 mAh. Wired charging jumps from 25W to 45W, and wireless goes from 15W to 20W. According to SamMobile, this is the first Galaxy Z series to use silicon-carbon cells.
What are silicon-carbon cells, and why do they matter?
Think of them as a smarter way to pack energy. These cells hold more power in the same space as older lithium-ion cells. A brand can fit a bigger battery without making the phone thicker.
This is the main reason Oppo, Huawei and Xiaomi have been ahead of Samsung. They have simply been shipping bigger cells for longer.
The Oppo Find N6 wins on size
With 6,000 mAh, 80W wired and 50W wireless charging, the Oppo Find N6 has the biggest published battery of the six. Huawei’s Mate X7 follows at 5,600 mAh on Huawei’s Malaysia spec page, and the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 sits at 5,100 mAh.
There is a catch for Indian readers. According to 91mobiles, none of these three is officially launched in India. If you are thinking of importing one, check warranty and service coverage first. A bigger battery is not much use if repairs are a headache.
Also, look closely at spec pages. Huawei lists the Mate X7 at 5,600 mAh in Malaysia but 5,300 mAh in Spain. Regional versions can differ, so check the page for your own country
Google chose slim over big
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold has a 4,806 mAh battery, a small drop from the 5,015 mAh on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. In return, Google made the phone lighter and thinner.
Charging is modest on the wired side at 30W. On wireless, it does better with 25W Qi2.2, which is five watts more than the Fold8 range. Google says you can reach 50% in about 30 minutes, but only with a 30W charger or higher.
Not everyone wants the biggest battery. If you carry your phone all day, a lighter fold may matter more to you than an extra few hundred mAh.
The iPhone Duo mystery
Apple has not published the iPhone Duo’s battery size in mAh. It does share how long the phone should last: up to 31 hours of video on the inner display, up to 44 hours on the outer display, and 24 hours of mixed use across both screens. Apple also says the Duo uses one battery on each side of the fold.
You may see numbers like 5,800 mAh on some websites. Those are not from Apple, so treat them as unconfirmed.
On charging, Apple again uses time, not watts: about 20 minutes to reach 50% by cable, and about 30 minutes by MagSafe or Qi2. That is a smart way to talk about it, because most people care about minutes, not watts.
If the Duo is your pick, protect it too. Iphone premium covers are worth a look, since a foldable needs good protection at the hinge and the edges.
Why “80W” does not mean what you think
Oppo’s 80W looks like the clear winner. But a watt number on a box is a ceiling, not a promise.
When GSMArena tested the Oppo Find N5, it measured real charging speed close to Xiaomi’s 67W and Huawei’s 66W, even though Oppo advertises 80W. So the gap in real life can be much smaller than the spec sheet suggests.
Treat wattage as a rough guide. What matters more is how fast the phone actually fills up, and that depends on the charger and the cable you use.
Does a bigger battery always last longer?
Not on its own. Battery life depends on the chip, the two screens, the software, and how you use the phone. This is why Apple leads with hours of video playback instead of capacity.
There is another small trick in numbers. Brands usually quote a typical capacity, and the rated capacity is a bit lower. Huawei lists the Mate X7 at 5,600 mAh typical and 5,470 mAh rated. Always compare like with like.
The sensible approach is to wait for independent battery tests before ranking any fold by mAh alone.
Which foldable fits which reader?
Prices below are India starting prices and can change with offers, so check before you buy.
- You want the biggest battery, and importing is fine: the Oppo Find N6 leads on paper. Sort out warranty first.
- You want the biggest confirmed battery you can buy in India: the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, with 5,000 mAh and 45W charging, from ₹1,99,999.
- You are upgrading from an older Samsung: the Galaxy Z Fold8, from ₹1,79,999, gives you 4,800 mAh and much faster 45W charging than the Fold7’s 25W.
- You care about wireless charging and a lighter body: the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, from ₹1,86,999, with 25W Qi2.2.
-
You watch a lot of video on the outer screen: the iPhone Duo, from ₹2,99,900, claims up to 44 hours. Just remember Apple has not shown the battery size.
Your charging kit matters as much as the phone
A foldable only charges as fast as its weakest link. Even the best phone slows down with a poor cable or an underpowered charger.
For the Galaxy Z Fold8 range, look for a USB-C Power Delivery charger that lists PPS support, since Samsung’s fast charging depends on it. For the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, Google’s 50%-in-30-minutes claim needs a 30W PPS charger or higher.
A simple setup works for most people: a GaN fast charging adapter, a good 100W Type C fast charging cable so the cable is never the bottleneck, and a Qi2.2 wireless charger if you want Pixel-speed wireless. A power bank is worth keeping in your bag too, because even a 5,000 mAh fold drains quickly with two screens running. A compact cable pouch and a 20,000 mAh power bank turn a foldable into one of those travel friendly gadgets you can actually carry all day. You can find these mobile accessories at GrunX.
- Biggest battery overall: Oppo Find N6 (6,000 mAh)
- Biggest battery you can buy in India: Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra (5,000 mAh)
- Biggest mystery: iPhone Duo (no mAh published)
- Slimmest approach: Pixel 11 Pro Fold (4,806 mAh)
Battery size is only half the story. Pick the phone that fits your day, then build a charging setup that lets it perform at its best.
